Church Relations

Fifth Sunday Offering, one of the vital means of support for the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.

Each month that has a fifth Sunday, the United Methodist Churches in the Florida Annual Conference are asked to receive an offering to support the ministry of the Children’s Home. When you contribute to this offering, you allow us to carry on the life changing ministry of the Children’s Home. The tradition of the Fifth Sunday Offering stretches back to our very beginning in 1908. It is our hope that each congregation will remember to lift up the Children’s Home on each Fifth Sunday. We can provide bulletin inserts, pew envelopes, posters and other materials to help each church promote this important offering.

We are now providing electronic versions of our Fifth Sunday supplies, in addition to the printed supplies that we already send to churches. To access, please click below:

THE LOCAL CHURCH REPRESENTATIVE

In every church within the Florida Conference, there is the opportunity for volunteers to serve as Local Church Representatives (LCR). This is an official position within the church and one that is vital to keeping congregations plugged into the ministry of the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.

The main role of the LCR is to communicate the mission of the Children’s Home to their congregation to help develop support for the Home through the Fifth Sunday and Christmas Offerings. They also host collection drives, coordinate campus tours, and most importantly, help connect children and families in crisis to the Children’s Home.

To equip and support LCRs, we host annual trainings in each district and have a variety of materials that come out throughout the year to help LCRs with their work, including the following resources:

LCR Handbook  To learn more about this important role and the support we offer, click here to view our LCR Handbook.
